Always wannabe travelers we never had the time to plan holidays and got to an age where we never thought traveling to somewhere like South America would be on our itinerary. How wrong we were! After hearing about Lew’s experiences of 20 years in South America we were eager to join the Amigos Travel Tour 2018 but most of all have Lew as our guide. And what a tour it was and what a guide you were Lew. Actually more than a guide, a guardian angel, in a continent where we did not know neither north from south nor the language. Right from the get go you all helped us plan what we needed for the trip from travel insurance for 70+ year olds to visa and vaccinations. Every inquiry, and there were plenty, was answered in a timely manner with none of our “stupid” questions too stupid for you to answer!

Highlights of our trip – ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! The group of 17 people from all over Australia were great. Traveling with strangers for 28 days with no disagreements was a massive achievement which was only possible because Lew kept us engaged with a range of activities for all interests. The flights with LATAM were excellent considering we are both of an age where economy seats can be challenging for 17 hours. When not trekking in the jungle we were watching Brazilian dancing, eating empanadas, riding cable cars and sleeping in accommodation that Meghan and Harry would have appreciated. The Iguassu Falls in Argentina and Brazil took our breath away. Lew had surprises for us all throughout the tour and the one for this day was rafting under The Falls – indescribable.

Adios South America – more than just a holiday, more than just an experience, more than words can describe. We could talk about this trip for forever and probably will. “The itinerary promised a trip loaded with fabulous experiences and adventures. All of these were realised more than satisfactorily and almost exactly to script. Lew’s generosity in providing extra ‘surprises’, however, added even more to the excellence of this stunning holiday. Regarding hotels, the standard of each one was very high but what was even more impressive was the position of each in its town or city – right in the heart of everything! This made shopping and free time choices so simple to navigate. Lew was always ready and willing to make interesting suggestions for things to do in our free time. These times were allocated perfectly too – generally coming after busy periods when a little down time would be appreciated. The small number of free periods was ideal as we were all there to experience and learn about the culture, lifestyle and history of a new continent and this is definitely best achieved through the vast knowledge of Lew and his carefully selected specialist guides.

Lew knows the ins and outs of every aspect of his tours and constantly shows he values quality. Lew led by example when it was called for – he was the first to cover himself with that velvety Amazonian mud! His vast experience in South American touring has plied him with countless anecdotes – some informative, others hilarious, all enjoyed by the whole group. “
